The Lord Is Willing To Heal You

Jesus is still in the healing business

Yes, Jesus still heals today! I came to know the supernatural healing power of Jesus Christ through my own experience. So, when I write on the topic of healing, it is not done out of head knowledge, but through experiential knowledge. I didn’t just read the Bible and believe in healing. I experienced it. God healed me and He wants to heal you too – it is His will!

I’ll share my story of healing a different time. Let’s first look at the story of how Jesus healed the leper in Galilee, as found in Mark chapter 1.

A leper came to him, begging on his knees, “If you want to, you can cleanse me.” Deeply moved, Jesus put out his hand, touched him, and said, “I want to. Be clean.” – Mark 1:40-41 MSG

How often have you felt like this? Maybe you’ve been sick for years or you have had a troubling backache or knee problem that just won’t go away. Have you ever wondered, “God, is it even Your will to heal me?”

I know from my own experience that if you’ve battled an ailment or sickness that isn’t healed right away it can lead you to think, “I wonder if I will ever get healed…” This man with leprosy fell at Jesus’ feet and recognized His power saying, “If you want to, you can cleanse me!” And what did Jesus do? He replied, “I want to. Be clean.” It was that simple for Jesus. He first declared His will. Then He declared the man’s healing.

It is God’s desire for you to be healed and to be whole. No matter what our circumstances may be, if we fall on our knees before Jesus His response will always be, “I am willing.” Now, the timing may be a different story, but the Lord’s will is clear!

There is so much revelation about God’s heart in this story – I could write a whole book on it (hmm, maybe that’s a good idea)! It is important to point out several more details in this story. Let’s take a look again.

A leper came to him, begging on his knees, “If you want to, you can cleanse me.” Deeply moved, Jesus put out his hand, touched him, and said, “I want to. Be clean.” Mark 1:40 (MSG)

It is important to understand that under the law of the time lepers were not allowed to be touched. Leviticus 13:45-46 reads “Now the leper on whom the sore is, his clothes shall be torn and his head bare; and he shall cover his mustache, and cry, ‘Unclean! Unclean!’ He shall be unclean. All the days he has the sore he shall be unclean. He is unclean, and he shall dwell alone; his dwelling shall be outside the camp.”

According to the law, lepers were not to be touched. They had to dress differently and declare to the public that they were unclean. They weren’t even allowed to live with the rest of the community – they were ordered to make their dwelling outside the camp! They were the outcasts of society, the unclean, the cursed; the ones that it looked like even God didn’t care about. They were shunned and rejected.

So, if the law specifically stated that lepers were to be outcasted, then what on earth was Jesus doing touching one? We have the answer right here: “Then Jesus, moved with compassion, stretched out His hand and touched him, and said to him, “I am willing; be cleansed.” (Mark 1:41 NKJV) Jesus was moved with compassion for this man. His heart went out to this man. More remarkable than the miraculous healing itself, is Jesus’ love! His love for this man was far more powerful than any law or restriction. He didn’t care what the law said. He cared about the hurting man! Jesus didn’t care that this man was an outcast. Jesus only saw the man’s faith when he fell before Him and when He saw the man’s condition it touched His heart and He healed him.

The Lord’s will is for you to be healed too!

And you know that God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power. Then Jesus went around doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with him. – Acts 10:38 NLT
